cool, i'll save you a seat.
I believe that there is some truth to subliminal messages and having an effect on the human brain. i always sleep with the tv on and i've noticed that if i leave a channel on that has the x-files or sometype of horror movie on in the middle of the night my dreams tend to be on the strange side. i just had this dream that i was at a party with a bunch of friends at this old farm house and for some reason i had to start stabbing everyone with a pitchfork to escape the party. turns out that during the night one of the movies from the 'dead' series (night of the living, dawn of the, day of the - i don't remember which one) was on. i see a connection there.
on kinda the same topic, has anyone here ever dabbled in lucid dreaming?

Yeah,I thought that was an odd statement to make since almost everyone has had some kind of experience with subliminals of a sort. I was thinking dreams too. When you say lucid dreams, what do you mean?? Sometimes I know that right before I wake up,I am aware of dreams that I am having and sometimes I get an answer to something I've been thinking about. I also know what you mean by falling asleep with the t.V. on and having what you are hearing or saw invade your dreams. I'm thiking the book is refering to the consciousawake state of the brain ,but either way,I do believe in the power of suggestion.

lucid dreaming is dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. this consciousness allows you to guide your dreams. lucidity usually begins in the midst of a dream when the dreamer realizes that the experience is not occurring in physical reality, but is a dream.
you can read up on it here:
http://www.lucidity.com/LucidDreamingFAQ2.html
it explains in more detail what it is and how you go about developing your abilities. one of the exercises they say to do is during the day, look at a sign, memorize what it says, look away, and then quickly look back at the sign. in your dreams they say that signs never say the same thing twice. so if in your dreams you read a sing and then read it again and it is different and your consciousness can recognize this and then correlate it to being in a dreaming state, you can enter a lucid state.
i have never had any luck with it yet but there is always tonight.

Thats what I thought, yes,I do sometimes have lucid dreams.I'm checking thatlink out more thouroughly. I really would love to learn how to tap into use more brain power when asleep, the least of which would be to control nightmares. Had a couple of real doozies this weekend and would have liked to have been able to stop them before waking up in a state of terror then laying awake for 45 minutes tryin to forget them! This is interesting.

Lucid dreams are cool. I usually end up flying. Love it when I have 'em. btw, the Crue song with the sub message (I think) is their tune Run For Your Life (unreleased song from Shout era)

ok,I had to go grab it. Beside the pic is this direct quote " Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil album has been a target of groups who believe that backward messages are embedded in songs. The protesters say that this album has the phrase "Backward mask, where are you,oh.Lost in error satan." However researchers have been unable to find any evidence whatsoever that these and other satanic messages are encoded in the music or that,if they are, they can influence behavior."

Funny ya should mention backward messages...i found a old tape given to me by a church group years ago..it has songs played backwards by: Motley Crue(ten seconds to love, Danger)Pink Floyd,ELO,Styx,Michael Jackson, Led Zep, Eagles..and more. The Beatles stuff was kinda strange.
